"Left Behind" was inspired by the story of a 4 year old Virginia boy 
who was kicked out of the car by his mother and left behind on the side 
of the highway.

Stories like this are tragic but thankfully infrequent in the U.S.
Put into a world perspective, millions of children are 'left behind' 
every day to starve due to the food crisis in Africa. 

An African mother loses a child every three seconds. In the past week, 
there have been 2 stories on the front page of the Washington Post about 
mothers abusing or killing their own children but no coverage of the
crisis in Africa.
