Šašliks — marinated meat grilled on skewers — is Latvia's sacred summer ritual, and this piglet has been threaded into it feet-first, between the onion, tomato, and peppers, exactly where the meat goes. He doesn't seem to have noticed. Part of a series painted for a September exhibition in Riga, Latvia, restoring the animal to the recipe.
