July 1, 2010:

Puppeteer

Last month, the conservative group 'Right Change' aired a TV ad called "Attack of the 50-Foot Pelosi". And on the National Republican Congressional Committee website they portray Pelosi as a puppet master pulling strings of the House Democrats.

In this painting, "Puppeteer", a colossal Pelosi holds loose control over a braying donkey while an inanimate elephant finger puppet is perched on her finger. The backdrop on the stage represents the fires burning over Baghdad on the night the war started in March 2003 ("shock and awe"). The iconic comedy and tragedy theater masks adorn the sides of the stage but only tragedy is visible. The green army men are poised to attack Pelosi - they are there to remind everyone that the US is currently in two wars.
